Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band - “Raise Your Hand (Live)”

Because why would you not start the day with megajams?

I maintain my position that, between the years of 1973 and 1979, there was not a better band in the world than this band.

(This is from the same show - Passaic 1978 - as the “Jungleland” video I posted a few days ago. According to Mike Rock, the whole show is up on YouTube.)

heroes-get-made asked: So, what's the deal with the kissing on stage thing? I've seen a bunch of photos of Bruce and Clarence mouth kissing on stage, and while I find them all absolutely wonderful, I'm kind of wondering what's going on with that! That's not a thing completely straight men typically do, from my understanding. I can't be the only one who's more than a little surprised to see that, can I? Regardless, it brings me a level of joy that is difficult to express in words, and I will miss him (and their interaction) so incredibly much.

Answer:

It’s something they did a lot during the ’70s and ’80s, usually at the end of Thunder Road or during Rosalita (and other times, but those are prime examples). Clarence once said of their relationship and their connection, “It’s the most passion that you have without sex. Two androgynous beings becoming one. It’s love. It’s two men — two strong, very virile men — finding that space in life where they can let go enough of their masculinity to feel the passion of love and respect and trust. Friendships are based on those things, and you seal it with a kiss.”
